Monday

Ceramics Foundations   (3rd-5th– 4:00-5:00pm; K-2nd– 5:00-6:00pm)

Teaching Artist: Jamie O’Sullivan

Students will explore the fun of clay as they sculpt, carve, and glaze both functional and decorative pieces. They’ll learn basic hand-building pottery techniques while digging into their creativity and bringing their ideas to life.

Crafternoon  (K-2nd– 4:00-5:00pm; 3rd-5th– 5:00-6:00pm)

Teaching Artist: Khadija Jahmila

Join mixed-media artist Khadija Jahmila for an exhilarating exploration of creativity! Dive into diverse art sessions where you’ll discover techniques like nature collage, yarn wrapping, and repurposed CD artwork. Whether you’re a beginner or seeking to refine your skills, Khadija will personally guide you through each project, helping you elevate your talents using a mix of recycled and new materials. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to grow artistically and create sustainably!

Tuesday

3-D Sculptures (K-2nd– 4:00-5:00pm; 3rd-5th– 5:00-6:00pm)

Teaching Artist: Carolina Mayorga

Projects in all classes encourage creativity and imagination while providing foundational knowledge and skills building using a wide variety of traditional and contemporary drawing techniques and materials. Spanish speakers welcome!

Cartoon Creations (3rd-5th– 4:00-5:00pm; K-2nd– 5:00-6:00pm)

Teaching Artist: Blas Goncalves-Borrega

This class will focus primarily on shape language, proportion, and composition, with a little emphasis on anatomy, layout and perspective. The young artists will be able to create stories and characters that they can share with classmates and families. If your child is a returning student, this class will build on previous knowledge and skills.

No classes on April 14.

Wednesday

Drawing Techniques (3rd-5th– 4:00-5:00pm; K-2nd– 5:00-6:00pm)

Teaching Artist: Carolina Mayorga

This is an exploration of art and design concepts, styles, and inspiration found throughout history provides a rich context for student discovery and development in 3-dimensional media.  Spanish speakers welcome!

Puppetry!  (K-2nd– 4:00-5:00pm; 3rd-5th– 5:00-6:00pm)

Teaching Artist:  Matt Reckeweg

Students will explore the world of theatrical puppetry as they are introduced to various styles from ‘hand,’ to ‘rod,’ to ‘shadow.’ Students will build their own puppets and learn how to create their own puppet show!

Ceramics Creations (3rd-5th)

4:30-6:00pm

Teaching Artist: Jenna Murphy

In this class, students will learn and practice a variety of handbuilding and surface decorating techniques to create functional works of art. Potential projects may include pinch pot planters, slab soap dishes, and cookie cutter ornaments.

NOTE: This is a 90-minute class, from 4:30-6:00pm, and the only class a student can take on Wednesdays!

No class on April 15.

Thursday

Illustration! (K-2nd– 4:00-5:00pm, 3rd-5th 5:00-6:00pm)

Teaching Artist: Sara Leonard

Young artists will experiment and develop a variety of techniques and materials while connecting with assorted texts in order to illustrate the mood and/or details from the story.

Intro to Creative Expression (3rd-5th– 4:00-5:00pm; K-2nd– 5:00-6:00pm)

Teaching Artists: Jose Rufino & Tia Thomas

Local actors and teaching artists Jose Rufino and Tia Thomas will inspire and guide your little ones in the fundamentals of theater! In this class your tiny people will learn the basics of theater through games and play. The goal is fun first, getting them on their feet and building a world full of characters and possibilities second. They’ll be learning acting & theatrical collaborative skills through a variety of exercises & activities, which will be the building blocks for your future thespian!

Epic Art (3rd-5th)

4:30-6:00pm

Teaching Artist: Khadija Jahmila

In this ongoing class, students work on longer, evolving projects that grow and change over several weeks. Instead of finishing a new piece each session, participants explore texture, repurposed materials, and creative techniques while building multi-layered, mixed-media artworks. Guided by Khadija Jahmila, students develop their skills, experiment with ideas, and see their projects evolve over time. This class is perfect for young artists ready to dive deeper into their creativity in a supportive, hands-on environment.

NOTE: This is a 90-minute class, from 4:30-6:00pm, and the only class a student can take on Thursdays!
