Lydia Ma: Private Music Coordinator

Lydia’s love of music started early in life, when she began studying piano at age of four. She later earned a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education from East China Normal University in Shanghai, China, with a major in voice and a minor in piano. She then went on to Westminster Choir College, where she studied under the legendary Sharon Sweet and completed her Master of Music in Voice Pedagogy and Performance.

Lydia has performed as solo soprano in Shanghai, China. After she moved in United States, she performed with the Philadelphia Orchestra, Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, and Berliner Philharmonic as a part of a chorus. She especially enjoys teaching young children, and has recently been privately tutoring piano, voice, and Mandarin to children, as well as adults.

Having recently relocated to DC, Lydia as taken positions as a teaching artist at the Capitol Hill Arts Workshop, a production assistant for the National Children’s Chorus, and a substitute teacher at Washington Yuying Public Charter School.
