Gina Clapp Memorial Adult Student Art Show

Founded in the early 1990’s, the annual adult student art show was the brainchild of Gina Clapp, beloved visual arts instructor at the Capitol Hill Arts Workshop for decades. Her artistry, dedication, encouragement and humor were an inspiration to all who knew her. Gina believed everyone had the capacity to be an artist. Showing people how and why was her life’s work and that is a gift that never stops giving at CHAW. This show embodies CHAW’s mission of building community through the arts, inviting students at every level to believe in themselves and to share their work and passion with others.

This is her legacy.

“Most people think the ability to paint and draw is a gift reserved for a few. Not true. Any adult can learn to express himself or herself articulately in paintings. The question is, would you rather do than be done for? I would rather dance the tango, however badly, than watch it live, no matter how well the pros dance. Interest is a real gift, so try!”
