CHAW Black Box Theater
DC Summer Dance Showcase features contemporary dances by artists from the DC area and elsewhere along the East Coast, including New York, Pittsburgh, and Allentown. This diverse program will offer large group and solo work, premieres and old favorites. In “Anemone,” by Capitol-Hill resident Malcolm Shute, a group of nine dancers cluster together, arms and torsos waving in currents. In “Seen and Herd,” by UpRooted Dance, seven movers tumble along the floor like paper bags in the wind. “Flatlands,” by Nicole McClam is a quirky 1-minute duet that reflects waking and rushing through the apartment to catch the school bus. Our program includes the following artists/companies: Covenant Babatunde, Sarah Carlson | Dance Link, Claytor Company, DANA Movement Ensemble, Davina Etwaroo, Sara Lavan, Nicole McClam, SylviDances, Totema Dance, Deanna Woodman, UpRooted Dance.
Tickets are sliding scale $30-$20. Seating is limited, so please purchase early.
