CHAWbaret Gold: 50 Years of CHAW

Join us on Saturday April 2nd as we celebrate 50 years of CHAW with CHAWbaret GOLD, a cabaret style performance that promises to be a fun and fabulous celebration of CHAW’s rich 50-year history. 

Conceived of and built by a collective of neighbors who knew the importance of community arts and wanted a dedicated space for creative development in their neighborhood, CHAW has been a community anchor in Capitol Hill since it made its debut in 1972. Although much has changed since its founding, CHAW remains remarkably timeless. The same spirit and essence that fueled its founding in those early days is present in the building today. The people may change but shared humanity, love of community, creative curiosity and passion for art are the bedrock foundation for a place that has served tens of thousands of people over the past half a century. 

Join us at CHAW on Saturday April 2nd to celebrate, featuring:

• 6:30 pm: catered reception with live jazz by pianist Amy K. Bormet
• 8:00: CHAWbaret

Directed by Dean Reichard and Music Direction by Barbara Schelstrate, this show will feature performances by Chris Hon, Guy Bosworth, Mikala “Mika” Howard, Hannah Jacobson Blumenfeld, KJ Jacks, Maureen Kerrigan, Rick Knight, Richelle “Rikki” Howie Lacewell, and Tom Michalisko. Marcus Kyd from Taffety Punk Theatre Company joins us as the Emcee for the night!
