Bridget Westrum: Ceramics

Hi! My name is Bridget Westrum and I use She/Her pronouns.

I began my pottery career at Bemidji State University in Northern Minnesota and immediately fell in love with the craft. I’ve been creating pottery for 5 years, now, but have been involved in the arts since I was born.

Pottery has become a vital part of my life. It eases my worries and helps me center myself right along with the clay. There’s something incredibly grounding about working with my hands, feeling the coolness of the clay as I shape it into something beautiful. Each time I sit at the wheel, I find a sense of peace that allows me to let go of stress and focus entirely on the moment. It’s Meditative. It nurtures my artistic side and helps me connect with myself on a deeper level.

When I’m not creating pottery, I study Ethics, Peace and Human Rights at American University, read (a lot) of historical fiction, and dream of how to change the world.
