Brian Washington: Deputy Director

Brian is originally from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. He fell in love with the arts while attending Milton Hershey School (MHS) in Hershey, PA, where he participated in Theatre, marching & jazz band, various singing groups, the handbell choir, and of course basketball! After matriculating through MHS, Brian found his way to Washington, DC, where he attended Howard University to study acting. His strong passion for teaching and working with youth soon led him to explore a career in education. After earning his BFA in Theatre Education, Brian was fortunate enough to work with such arts organizations as The Washington Youth Choir, Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, and THEARC, before finding a home with CHAW in 2007. Since that time, he has worn many hats and served in various roles & titles, but is appreciative that he is able to work with young artists every day by way of CHAW’s mission of ‘building community through the arts!’ Brian is a proud advocate for the arts and will also be dedicated to providing access and artistic opportunities to families and communities throughout the District!

Brian lives in the DMV with his wife, Bianca, and their son, August; named after August Wilson, of course!
