The Endangered Animals Project is an exciting expansion of our beloved Alphabet Animals Project (2014, 2019). This new phase adds ten striking new sculptures along the Connecticut Avenue NW corridor between Woodley Park and Cleveland Park, continuing CHAW’s mission of building community through the arts.
Like Alphabet Animals, the project blends education and artistic excellence while celebrating the creativity of local artists. Through the CHAW–Cleveland Park Main Street–Woodley Park Main Street Partnership, this expansion creates fresh artistic touchpoints for local businesses and residents alike—strengthening the connection between creativity, community, and a flourishing neighborhood.
The original Alphabet Animals invited residents, business owners, artists, and passersby to experience art in unexpected places and discover the interconnectivity of community. Now, Endangered Animals extends that invitation with a new focus: protecting and celebrating the wild and wonderful world around us.
