(1st and 3rd Fridays of each month, 6:30-9:30 p.m.)

Working from nude models, students will develop accuracy and expressiveness in rendering the human figure. Instruction will be individual with an emphasis on working with each student’s strengths and experience. The class will be complemented with theory and examples in art history. It is assumed that all students taking this class have some prior drawing experience. New students should bring an 18x24 newsprint pad, an 18x24 Strathmore Drawing pad, kneaded eraser and extra soft vine charcoal to the first class. The class is facilitated by master engraver and artist Will Fleishell. Easels are available. Safekeeping: Images from the LGBT Photovoice Project

Join us in celebrating the opening of a small showing of photographs created by the participants in a photovoice project, taking place over 5 weeks at the Anacostia Arts Center. The project is a participatory action research study that concludes with a presentation of participants’ photos and findings to policy makers, public safety officials, health care providers, faith community leaders, and other community stakeholders through this public gallery showing.
