Matthew Kessler-Vaughn has spent three decades leading nonprofit operations in executive and senior leadership roles, helping organizations build the systems and strategies they need to thrive. He knows how aligning operations with mission allows nonprofits to grow, adapt, and sustain their impact over time.

That experience led him to create KJ Consulting Group, where he now serves as an operations strategist and partner to nonprofits. His work centers on strengthening internal systems, developing practical strategies, and building the clarity and capacity organizations need to succeed.

Matthew believes investing in people is the foundation of sustainable change. He has built high-performing teams by fostering collaboration, developing leaders, and creating a culture of learning, while drawing on his background in organizational strategy, financial sustainability, and operational systems to help organizations navigate complexity and deliver lasting impact.

He has been a proud member of the DC community for decades, and he lives in Southwest with his husband. He is passionate about people, community, and creating spaces where everyone feels safe, heard, and empowered to explore their ideas, creativity, and potential. His commitment to civil rights, LGBTQIA+ equality, and antiracist principles grounds how he shows up in community and continues to guide his work toward belonging and possibility for all.
