Lindy Russell-Heymann: Visual Arts
Lindy Russell-Heymann (she/her) has taught elementary and middle school Art in public, private, and charter schools in DC and Maryland for the past 23 years. She has a BFA in Costume Design from DePaul University and an MA in Art Education from Ohio State. She loves to teach and work with various materials, mediums, and techniques such as drawing, painting, gel printmaking, fiber arts, and stained and fused glass. As her degrees and art-making practice may suggest, Lindy approaches art-making like going to a buffet, except the buffet is all dessert. Variety is truly the spice of life! She also makes herbal medicines because she took a class on herbalism, and she knits like a maniac. She loves origami but is notoriously bad at wrapping presents. Her goal this year is to create art only using what already exists in her considerable yarn, glass, paint, printmaking, drawing, and fabric stashes. Maybe not at the same time.
