DESCRIPTION:(above – “Chincoteague Sunrise” – Photograph by Karin Edgett) \n| “Landscapes” – CHAL Open Call Show\n| Opening Reception: Saturday\, April 5th\, 5:30pm-7:00pm\, CHAW Art Gallery\n\n\nThe Capitol Hill Art League (CHAL) opens its annual Open Call Art Exhibition on April 1st at the Capitol Hill Arts Workshop (CHAW) located at 547 7th Street\, S.E. Washington\, DC\, 20003.. The show will be on display in the CHAW Gallery\, from April 1 to May 30\, 2025. \nThere will be an opening reception from 5:30-7:00 pm\, on Saturday\, April 5\, at CHAW\, where juror Glenn Kessler will discuss the selected artist works and award cash prizes. \nGlen Kessler is an internationally collected and awarded artist as well as the founder of The Compass Atelier in Rockville\, MD\, Compass Art Center in Kensington\, MD\, and inventor of The Painters Compass Color Wheel. He is a life-long teacher\, having taught at Maryland Institute College of Art\, George Washington University\, George Mason University\, and others. In 2013 he founded The Compass Atelier in order to teach a cohesive curriculum of artistic study of his own design. \nThis is the Art League’s annual Open Call show which seeks entries from artists throughout the Washington Metropolitan Area\, West Virginia\, Delaware and Pennsylvania . This year’s call has produced an impressive array of art interpreting the theme “Landscapes”. \nIn addition to viewing the art in person at the Arts Workshop\, the art will be available online after April 1st on the Capitol Hill Art League website at: www.caphillartleague.org/landscapes2025 \n  \n\n| For more information about the Capitol Hill Art League please visit: caphillartleague.org

All donations directly support CHAW services and programs while ensuring no one is ever turned away for inability to pay. \nActivity: Loving Chagall with CHAW teaching artist Carolina Mayorga\nDiscover the colorful world of Marc Chagall in this fun and creative drawing workshop! We’ll start by learning a little about Chagall’s life and art\, then dive into drawing exercises exploring line\, shape\, perspective\, proportions\, and composition. To wrap up\, we’ll play a fun group game like Telephone\, Connect-the-Dots and others inspired by the playful spirit of Chagall. \nSpanish speakers welcome. All materials will be provided. Best suited for children in kindergarten and above.
